Job Summary: The Marketing and Communications Specialist will lead the development and execution of marketing and communication strategies to raise awareness, engage stakeholders, and support fundraising efforts for our digital empowerment programs in Africa. This role plays a crucial part in conveying the organization’s impact and building a strong brand presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Communication:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communication plans aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.
    • Craft compelling messages and stories to effectively communicate the impact of our programs.
  2. Content Creation:
    • Create and curate content for various channels, including website, social media, newsletters, and print materials.
    • Produce multimedia content, such as videos, infographics, and blog posts.
  3. Social Media Management:
    • Manage and grow the organization’s social media presence, including content scheduling and engagement with followers.
    • Monitor social media trends and adapt strategies accordingly.
  4. Media Relations:
    • Cultivate relationships with media outlets and journalists to secure media coverage and interviews.
    • Draft press releases and media pitches.
  5. Website Management:
    • Maintain and update the organization’s website with fresh content, news, and success stories.
    • Optimize the website for SEO and user experience.
  6. Email Marketing:
    • Plan and execute email marketing campaigns to engage donors, supporters, and stakeholders.
    • Monitor email performance and make data-driven improvements.
  7. Publications and Collateral:
    • Design and produce marketing materials, including brochures, reports, and fundraising appeals.
    • Ensure branding consistency across all materials.
  8. Events and Campaigns:
    • Support the planning and execution of fundraising events and campaigns, including digital campaigns and virtual events.
    • Create promotional materials and communications for events.
  9. Analytics and Reporting:
    • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing and communication efforts.
    • Prepare regular reports on key performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in marketing and communications, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools, content management systems, and email marketing platforms.
  • Strong design and multimedia content creation skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and use it to make informed decisions.
  • Commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
  • Proficiency in English is an advantage.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
