Job Summary: The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of our organization, including budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and financial strategy. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring sound financial management to support our digital empowerment programs in Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Planning and Strategy:
    • Develop and implement financial strategies and policies that align with the organization’s mission and goals.
    • Collaborate with leadership to create long-term financial plans.
  2. Budget Management:
    • Prepare and manage the annual budget, ensuring alignment with program priorities.
    • Monitor budget performance and provide regular reports to leadership and the board.
  3. Financial Reporting:
    • Generate accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
    • Present financial reports to the board, donors, and stakeholders as needed.
  4. Grants and Contracts:
    • Oversee financial aspects of grants and contracts, including compliance with donor requirements.
    • Collaborate with program and grants teams to ensure proper financial tracking.
  5. Audit and Compliance:
    • Coordinate annual financial audits and ensure compliance with regulatory and donor requirements.
    • Implement internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets.
  6. Financial Operations:
    • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
    • Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.
  7. Investment and Treasury Management:
    • Manage the organization’s investments and cash flow to optimize financial resources.
    • Monitor and report on investment performance.
  8. Donor Reporting:
    • Prepare financial reports for donors and grantors, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements.
    • Respond to donor inquiries related to financial matters.
  9. Financial Risk Management:
    • Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing strategies for risk reduction.
    • Ensure adequate insurance coverage for the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or ACCA certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial management, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Strong financial analysis and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
  • Proficiency in English is an advantage.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
