Job Summary: The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of our organization, including budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and financial strategy. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring sound financial management to support our digital empowerment programs in Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Planning and Strategy:
- Develop and implement financial strategies and policies that align with the organization’s mission and goals.
- Collaborate with leadership to create long-term financial plans.
- Budget Management:
- Prepare and manage the annual budget, ensuring alignment with program priorities.
- Monitor budget performance and provide regular reports to leadership and the board.
- Financial Reporting:
- Generate accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Present financial reports to the board, donors, and stakeholders as needed.
- Grants and Contracts:
- Oversee financial aspects of grants and contracts, including compliance with donor requirements.
- Collaborate with program and grants teams to ensure proper financial tracking.
- Audit and Compliance:
- Coordinate annual financial audits and ensure compliance with regulatory and donor requirements.
- Implement internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets.
- Financial Operations:
- Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.
- Investment and Treasury Management:
- Manage the organization’s investments and cash flow to optimize financial resources.
- Monitor and report on investment performance.
- Donor Reporting:
- Prepare financial reports for donors and grantors, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements.
- Respond to donor inquiries related to financial matters.
- Financial Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing strategies for risk reduction.
- Ensure adequate insurance coverage for the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or ACCA certification preferred.
- Proven experience in financial management, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Strong financial analysis and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
- Proficiency in English is an advantage.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
