Job Summary: The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, training, and managing volunteers who support our digital empowerment programs in Africa. This role plays a pivotal part in mobilizing community support and ensuring that volunteers contribute effectively to the organization’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Volunteer Recruitment:
- Develop and implement strategies to attract volunteers with diverse skills and backgrounds.
- Create and maintain a volunteer database.
- Orientation and Training:
- Conduct volunteer orientation sessions to introduce them to the organization’s mission, values, and programs.
- Provide training, resources, and ongoing support to volunteers.
- Placement and Supervision:
- Match volunteers with suitable roles and responsibilities based on their skills and interests.
- Supervise and oversee volunteer activities, ensuring they align with program objectives.
- Recognition and Appreciation:
- Develop and implement volunteer recognition programs to acknowledge their contributions.
- Organize appreciation events and activities for volunteers.
- Communication and Feedback:
- Maintain regular communication with volunteers, providing updates and sharing program needs.
- Collect feedback from volunteers to improve their experiences and program effectiveness.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Keep records of volunteer hours, activities, and impact.
- Prepare reports on volunteer engagement for the organization and donors.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that volunteers adhere to safety protocols and policies.
- Address any compliance issues and concerns.
- Community Engagement:
- Collaborate with the Community Outreach Coordinator to engage local communities and promote volunteer opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Non-Profit Management, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Proven experience in volunteer management and coordination, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire volunteers.
- Organizational and administrative skills for record-keeping and reporting.
- Commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
- Proficiency in English is an advantage.
- Ability to travel within the local community and regionally, as required.
